CAMM Curbing

Maximizing Curb Appeal!

Concrete landscape curbing borders are perfect for lawn edging, tree surrounds, driveway curbs and garden borders. Concrete borders are also very versatile, can be designed and built to match any landscape contour and they will last for years. Borders are a great way to outline one or more areas of the yard, driveway, and parking lot. No matter what your garden’s style is, they may be used to visually tie in different areas of a space, separate grass from garden, or work with paths to direct people. When you create a distinct border, you discourage lawn grass and creeping weeds from encroaching on your garden.

Now with today’s technology, tools, equipment, creativeness, and us working together we can create that border that separates, lasts for years to come, and can be aesthetically eye pleasing!

Frequently Asked Questions?

If you have existing grass it will not be effected by our machines outside the work area. The grass in the area where the curb gets installed will be cut out to install your curbing. Out side that area the grass remains the same. We transfer the concrete using wheelbarrows which don't tear up the grass. Your curb is extruded through a curb machine. The concrete is mixed onsite with a specialized trailer and mortar mixer. We are very self contained, all we may ask from you would be water hook up. Very minimal disturbance to your property.
Curbing is a concrete product. We could have very minimal cracks. As they say in the concrete world " Concrete will do 2 things! Concrete will get hard and it will crack!" We try to eliminate as much potential for cracking as possible by using correct ratios and techniques such as including control joints and cable. However spider cracks can occur in concrete and must not be confused for separation cracks. You must remember that cracks can and will occur in concrete. Many factors contribute to this including materials, layouts, and temps. The biggest issues with landscape curbing are extreme angles and inclines. Our curbing machine is relatively light weight so getting enough compression is more difficult in these more extreme situations. Cracks are concrete issues, they can and will happen. Cracks that are over 1/4 wide on level ground are an issue with operator error or lack of compaction, these cracks will be covered under warranty. Cracks in all other situations are not. We put the control joints even closer in extreme situations to relieve more of the stress that can occur. Remember we are dealing with a moving ground for its base (especially during our freeze thaw cycles).

We put expansion joints approximately every 12" to 32" for the relief of stress in the concrete as it cures. These joints are no different than the cuts in sidewalks or driveways, we are essentially putting cracks in ahead of time so the curbing will expand there. If it does then there may be a small crack that runs down the back or the front close to the ground. This DOES NOT mean the curbing has cracked, it means the control joints are doing their job and relieving stress.

We also add an 1/8" metal cable to the core of the curb. This also does not prevent cracking but drastically prevents the separation of the curb.
You have a lot of options for decorative curbing. There are many different sizes, styles, and shapes. Your curbing can be colored and or colored and stamped. Multi colored. Multi stamped. Curbing can also be made to look like stone, rocks, or even wood. The design options are near endless.
Our warranty on curbing is a 2 year workmanship warranty. Because this type of concrete cures so fast any issues you will have will commonly occur in the first 72 hours. Spider cracks are a concrete issue that can and may occur. If a crack forms and it's more than a 1/4 inch wide, it is operator error and will be fixed. Cracks that occur due to vehicles, heavy mowers, natural occurrences such as tree roots, ground heaving, etc. will not. Common sense really comes into play, when a car drives on landscape curb it's probably not gonna hold up. Spider Cracks are a fact of life in concrete and may occur in certain situations.
This is very much a concern and MUST be addressed. Every area that may hold water gets a small cut in the concrete to let water out. The drains that are put in around your house are put in the areas where gravity will take water, it must have a place to exit. The cuts we put in are only designed to handle the water from direct rain and snowmelt. Your downspouts must be extended over the top of the curb so that the massive amounts of water from the roof will be directed outside the curb. It is imperative that the spouts are extended. We are not responsible for any damage that may occur due to homeowner or landscaper negligence. It is a 4 inch concrete dam and it will hold water.
